Boats XCR Boats XCR(ZIP format, 4.43MB) This archive contains the XCR file for Boats and new Lair Creatures. The XCR was just updated October 15/2010 with new graphics for the Orcish Galeon, Bone Ship, Bug Ship, and Plague Ship.

Ships

Since most of the land of Etheria border water at one point all the races of Etheria have mastered to a degree the weapons of war on the sea. From the clever Dwarven Destroyers to the primitive Orcish Warship. Each race can build at least 4 boat types at the Shipyard the 2 boats common to all races are the Ferry and Beachcomber. Shipyards are only available on custom made maps and will not appear on a random map.

Strengths

Each ship type has its own strengths and weeknesses. Ferry's are useful for landing troops,generals and builders on islands. This can increase your resources. Warships,Cruisers, and Scoutships have good range and can hit both air and ground troops.And each race has a Destroyer type ship that has heavy damage versus land targets and can land troops. Damage types vary however as some like the Boneship have Fire Damage where as the Destroyer has Crushing damage. Beachcomber ships are useful for converting mines near shorelines and other shipyards.

Weeknesses

When building ships it is best to build at least some of each type. Building only Destroyers say leaves you open to attacks from the air. And building only Warships or Cruiser are week versus Destroyer class ships who have greater damage amounts with splash damage.

Super Bugs

Spreading through Etheria these large critters though rare are very deadly. The Giant Carabid believed to have escaped the Realms Of Famine is a massive beetle with huge jaws. The Sandworm is a giant burrowing mennace that has been around Etheria for ages. Dwarves used thier tunnels as mine shafts living in contant fear of running into one face to face while exploring their tunnels. Terror Caves and Wormholes will appear as one in 20 neautral buildings. So the chances of one being on a random map are not that long. If lairs are undisturbed the first spawn should take place for close to 30 minutes. Once spawned the bug may head in either dirrection meaning sometimes he will head straight for your base and if unguarded or weekened it will be to your ruin. Of course he could head to your enemies base but remember he could turn on a dime and head back towards your base.

Strengths

Both types of Super Bugs have heavy armour which makes them difficult to kill. The most deadly part of these creatures is the fact they kill most armies with one bite. And level towers with 2 bites. By destroying their lair you unlease the Boss bug which is pretty much impossible to kill unless you have massed some Dragons.

Weekness?

Sometimes thier size can be thier worst enemy as sometimes they are not sure what to attack next and faced with a swarm attack with mallee backuped by good missile units they can succumb to the attack. Massing Dragons also works good as well. Attacking with a hero though is foolhardy.
